VIVA VOCA (second edition) BY Afolabi Oluwafunmilayo

I paced up and down the changing room while I anticipated for my name to be called. I have tried all I could to avoid me this embarrassment but the school principal made it clear that each of the J.S.S 3 students must make a presentation on the school graduation day and the least I could do was to sing the school anthem. That shouldn’t be much of a task right?
I collected the microphone almost immediately I heard my name and mounted the stage with my jelly like leg. Nudged by the thunderous applause from the audience, I smiled as I glanced at the crowd while I waited for the leading sound of the piano, but then I saw my father. His stern look terrified me as I remembered his warning “hope you are fully prepared? Don’t go and disgrace me in school today o! If not, mtchew, olodo, good for nothing child” he said. Right beside him sat my mum still hailing with her clap but then the smile on her face changed into that of disappointment spiced with anger almost i…

We all have that person we were crushing on back in secondary school to the extent that every thing feels so perfect with the person around and you as the person crushing keeps praying and hoping for the weekend to be over so that you can see your crush because back then they happen to be the most beautiful and perfect being on earth making you neglect others around you.
Some even go on hunger strike to be able to buy stuffs for the crush so as to impress them like my dear friend who is the main inspiration for this article, some guys will even steal their parents money to feel among so as to satisfy the crush, well as for me i can't really say I did so though i had a lot of crush back in secondary school.
Let's talk about the main issue with this secondary school crush of ours, have you ever wondered why they no longer feel relevant to you or why you can't even dare to ask them out after sec school.
A friend said that's because they are no longer…

THE WOMAN IN MY DREAM (EMOTIONAL POEM) Written By Oke Oladayo And Deborah Okoye

You're a replica of the woman I see in my dream,
That shines to my world like a gleam,
But how do I walk up to you with a theme?
When you're in the company of your team.

With courage I jumped into your sea,
I don't care anymore about what they see,
All that matters is to make you smile,
And not just be the one that comes once in a while.

Though we're not entangled in abyss of affections,
But in my heart your love grows.
I don't know how to tell you I'm falling despite your imperfections,
All in the name of rescuing our friendship before it flows.

I remember so clear when you at first I saw
The glitters in your smiles
They are like incense with Sweet flavor
To be yours I will travel miles.

But all this was only on my mind
All my friends say I have a crush
So for feelings I became blind
Only to feel your friendship in a hush.

I waited so long for your love moods
All through the night I name our kids
How long wi…

What will happen if you didn't use your voice? Simple, you might never see the change you want.  We are super excited to launch the first edition of *VIVA VOCE *....Silence we will be no more.

My birth brought blessings unto my home, so they say. Though I understand not, I believe with their flow of emotions and the  joy I felt with every hand that touched  me and in return I giggled believing I will forever be cherished with every stare I received.

Time passed, and change can’t be stopped as I evolved with every passing moment and then I understand things can’t always be what it seems. Love has been turned to hostility and attention to negligence, why? Because I am a child and I have a role to play in the survival of my home. But then I say I am a child not a victim. “Who cares?” I asked. “I do” I answered. I have needs and only when my needs are met will my home be sustained forever. I no longer want to be a product of circumstance but a product of the positive seeds you have s…

The do's and don't to prevent Eating Disorder (must read)

People described how their problems often developed gradually over a few years. Sometimes the development was slow with “on/off” periods and then something would trigger a rapid deterioration. Often people didn’t realise things were getting out of hand and the eating disorder developed “before I knew it”. David said his bulimia nervosa developed over a period of a couple years; “it wasn’t something that I really necessarily noticed; it just started to creep on”.  “When you’ve been doing that for such a long time, it just becomes habit and routine and you lose sight of why you did it in the first place.” Steph An eating disorder could also develop quickly, over a course of a few months. Young people we talked with often recalled specific times; holidays, school trips, arguments at school, home or with friends that had happened just before things “flipped over”. Once the eating disorder had “kicked in” in full, people described how things quickly “spiralled out of control”. Soon they r…

*Hygiene during mensturarion*
   By Raymujeedah

Menstruation, or period, is normal vaginal bleeding that occurs as part of a woman's monthly cycle. Every month, your body prepares for pregnancy. If no pregnancy occurs, the uterus, or womb, sheds its lining. The menstrual blood is partly blood and partly tissue from inside the uterus. It passes out of the body through the vagina.

Vaginas have their own cleaning mechanism which comes into play during menstrual cycles, and these artificial hygiene products can hamper the natural process leading to infections and growth of bacteria:

Below are the tips to keep clean and hygienic during mensturation:

1..Method of sanitation:
Find out about the different styles, sizes, designs and thickness of sanitary pads/towels that are available. It's important to choose  a combination of pads suitable for day, night, heavy flow and light.
Consider the absorbency, comfort and best support system for preventing blood leakage and pad slippage.
